His tumour is getting pretty huge. Tonight he (or a cagemate) had been chewing at it so much the underside of it was bleeding. I am awaiting an answer on whether or not the lady who heads up the program wants to take a look at him or if I'm supposed to take him into the vet right away. I managed to clean the small wound with a bit of water but I'm afraid it's nearing an end for the poor boy. A second tumour is forming further up his back as well. Right now I'm just keeping him comfy with his brothers and praying for the best. He's not in pain that I can tell.

Just in case the cagemate is chewing on it, should he not be isolated? Well, I've been there. And we have discussed the tumor situation, and reasons for it, more than once here on RR. If a rat dies suddenly of unknown cause I sometimes think. "at least he never got a tumor". Best wishes. Do what you can.

I don't have a second cage, nor do I have the room for one (working on getting a FN, but good luck). I'm waiting to hear back from the lady as she would have extra cages and will also tell me what she wants to do.

So sorry about Eddy. I wonder if you could put something on his tumor that way his brother won't try to chew on it.

He seems to be doing a bit better. He has his good days and his bad ones. Yesterday I received an order on some hammocks and such from a friend of mine, so hopefully the more room to lounge/play will take the brother's mind off his tumour. Will be calling the lady in charge of the program again tomorrow (as I work tonight) and see what her final word on the situation is.

That could help. More toys, more places to hide, more things to keep his distracted! Good luck with that.
