Just remembered I need to post photos of my new birds: Felicity the Fischer's Lovebird, Candy the Quaker, and Francine the Cockatiel. Not to forget Fred and Fiona, the finches (who lay eggs that never hatch!). I'd like to get Francine and Felicity's wings clipped this week. Candy's already is, and she is very tame anyway - she's sitting just to my right at the moment! With them not being able to fly off is safer for them (can't fly into stuff and drop behind furniture), and I can get them better used to me. Photos soon. . . I once had them all in the same big cage, and there was no fighting. That was temporary.

BTW, the Lovebird is definitely the noisiest, but not too often!

They're nice looking. You aren't worried about them pooping on the helmet or anywhere else when out of their cage?

If they poop I clean it.
But the worry is them flying into walls. You will recall when Heather disappeared being a bookcase. So, Friday I've made arrangements for a wing clipping so Felicity and Francine cannot fly like that, and so that they can better get used to me - I can't control them flying around.

Kinda funny when they're wings are clipped and they go to fly. They dive bomb...well it's not funny to the bird.

They will drop to the floor and look around, and then climb up. Candy is OK with it. She would never stay on the shelf to my right three feet off the ground for several hours if she could fly off.
Candy is now stepping up on my finger regularly. I hope someday to have the others do that; if they keep flying they never will get tame.

As Audrey sleeps on my lap with the keyboard on my knees, the birds are back in their cages. It was a long day: they were brought back to the pet store for a wing clipping to facilitate taming, and for safety.
Cold drizzly day for a long walk but we managed.
They stayed out of their cages for some hours and were a little calmer with me being unable to fly.
But this time, unlike last, Candy (already clipped) dd not get along with Francine the tiel, but she and Felicity the Lovebird, groomed each other.
Photos later.

Felicity and Candy are great friends now. As you can see in the photos above they always got along, but now more so, to such an extent Felicity went out her open door and flew/climbed (with clipped wings) into Candy's cage - and I found them both in the morning next to each other, Candy grooming the Lovebird.
Francine seems less popular.
The only thing that causes me to not 100% be happy with this is they might be less inclined to bond with me and get tamer. Candy already is and I want it to stay that way. But they will likely stay together - that opens up another cage!

Sorry. I looked at the pix and meant to get back to the thread but never did.
You have an attractive bunch there! Did they come named or did you name them? I like Fred and Fiona!
My sister knows approximately how often her Blackbeard needs to poop and so if she can she holds him over the trash at the appropriate times and he will go on command. But she is always in an old T-shirt when he is out and she is wearing him.

I named them.
Glad your sister's bird has a timetable.
Right now three of them are wandering around the room, perching here and there. The finches are in the cage. Figured "Fred and Ethel" would be too trite.
Interesting how Candy and Felicity stay together; their breeds are from different continents, but they get along very well perching right up against each other when they can.

Francine seems to be getting used to me more; Felicity a little.
Felicity hops in and out of the cage as she pleases. They get closed up at night and when cats are here. Windows are secure.
It is cute to see them fast walking on the floor!

Got Candy the Quaker a new toy; Felicity the Lovebird too, but only Candy likes it. It is five big colored rings 2-3" wide, hooked together and hanging down, with a bell on the bottom. Candy has been playing with it for an hour. Glad she likes it!
My only concern with those two is they will not like me, with them always so close. But they love being next to each other, so what they like they get.
Still working on Francine the cockatiel, who remains skittish.
