Every month we go to the pet store to buy food for the hammies and the birds. When you first walk into the store, you get a greeting from a caged African Gray Parrot. This old bird has been there for years and keeps the customers coming back just to hear his witty phrases. He doesn't seem happy though. On the other side of the store where the rest of the birds are kept is a Green Cheek Conure that we visit regularly because of our personal attachment to Conures. This poor bird has been a prisoner of this pet shop for two years because the price tag on this poor baby is triple the amount he should be. We have approached the owner of the store to lower his price so we would be able to give this bird a forever home, but he wouldn't budge. He would have made a profit on a cage, toys, food, and the birdy himself, but the jerk is too GREEDY. He said he doesn't negotiate livestock prices. Livestock Is that how he feels about these wonderful babies??? We won't give up though. Everytime we go there we spend alot of time with him, giving him kind words and rubbing him on his head. He is so friendly and desparate for love. I sometimes wish that I was rich so stuff like this could be resolved, but I'm not able to bust this poor baby out of jail. I've even had thoughts of putting him up my shirt and making a run for it. We never walk out of the store without getting emotional over this problem. So far prayers aren't working. Maybe someday.........
