She is before your time. She used to show up on Johnny Carson and Tom Snyder, and other shows.

Carson was HUGE in his day - many times bigger than Letterman and Leno combined. Rent his DVD's and see for yourself.

Yeah, there was no competition for Carson. Leno and Letterman don't have near the universal following that Carson had. I don't watch Letterman or Carson but I did watch Carson (when I could stay up that late).
I still remember laughing when Carson asked what he asked of Zsa Zsa Gabor -- even though I was too young to get the joke until years later. I don't know if I saw that on the original broadcast or in a restrospective compilation...

My favorite ad lib:
Joan Embry was on from the San Diego Zoo with some more animals. She mentioned she would not be back for awhile as she was getting married to a man named "Pillsbury".
Carson immediately said, "And when you get back you'll be poppin' fresh". ;D
Thankfully, Carson is on DVD.

I think Conan is taking over The Tonight Show in a couple of years. 2009 maybe? I like Conan. He's so silly. I'm glad he'll be on an hour earlier!
But I wonder who's going to take over Conan's spot then?

Someone you likely never heard of! No one heard of Conan before he got the show, although he wrote some Simpsons scripts.

Conan is pretty good. Better than the others. Including Letterman and maybe Leno.
