Not much going on here. Ophelia and Jessica are in the living room in a big cage. Sam and Lester are in a big multi-level cage with Poppy the rabbit. Sam's deceased brother, Leslie, is greatly missed. The only news is that the incessant wheeking of Chris and Frosty got them moved yesterday into the living room from this bedroom. Caerbannog the rabbit, who was in a too small cage, has been put in their GP cage, and all three will have to get along. The rabbit has more room now than in the small cage I was given by the pet store when I rescued her. The GPs have already learned to share a small igloo; they used to use two but that luxury we will have to skip from now on. The small cage will be used as a holding cage during cleanings as it is so small; I cannot imagine what it really was used for as it seems unsuitable for any animal as a long term home. New photos soon on them and all my critters.

BTW, this morning Caerbannog the rabbit, twice the size of the piggies, was seen grooming Frosty, the albino/white guy.

The only thing new is that Chris and Frosty were put in a double size GP house: they can both squeeze into it and they are happier there with big Caerbannog the rabbit trying to boss them around with charges and grunts (she never bites or scratches). Now their two heads stick out of the house while eating while Caerbannog is outside the house; the remainder of the cage has enough room for the rabbit to stretch out, although not enough to give her a litter pan which rabbits seem to use (at least in my experience).
Nothing else new. Which I guess is good.

Here it is, October. Nothing new to report, which I suppose is good. Chris and Frosty, Jennifer and Ophelia, and Sam and Lester, are the same in every way including health. Lester, who looks like a big dust mop, remains the most nervous of the bunch. I hope to find time to tame him more by keeping him with me, but there are many pressing concerns for me. I will try. The cute thing is when he eats mix from his GP house - he sticks his head out a little and tries to pull the bowl inside, despite the protestations of Sam, who pulls it back.

As we end February, I will add that the six GPs mentioned above are all fine. I trimmed their nails this week. I suppose the biggest event is I started to feed them green Bell peppers (great for Vitamin C), and after some tentative sniffs, they all ate it. Nothing else new. Wish they could use a litter pan as Poppy the rabbit does, though!

Sadly, Jessica suddenly died yesterday. See Memorial forum.

Nothing much new. Ophelia, Sam and Lester, and Chris and Frosty, are all fine. Maybe they need a nail trimming. Sam and Lester do, every night, flip over their two GP houses which I have to set right in the morning. Maybe I can weigh them down, those plastic houses.

I duct tape the hamster wheels to the floor of the cage and then cover it in bedding so they can't chew at it... maybe that would work with the igloo as well?

GPs are a lot stronger than a Syrian, and there are two GPs. Duct tape never sticks all that well either. I used to put a five pound barbell plate on them; I did not want to in Summer as it might block air holes. But I could try that.
