I finally picked her up a few hours ago, and, as I hate changing an animal's name, I will continue to call her "Poopy" - however embarrassing that may prove to be to me in the future. ;D Note that the big cage has three levels, and the top two have carpetting (from a doormat). There is now a ceramic food dish in there replacing that pan. The LM water bottle contains water treated with anti-pee smell stuff from the pet store. The bottle is, however, on the inside as I can think of no way to connect and secure it from te outside. (?). I also hope the ramp from the bottom level is not too steep for her to negotiate. (?). I found this cage in the basement storeroom of this apartment house abandoned years ago. I cleaned it and knew I'd put it to good use with either a chinchy, ferret, or rabbit. it really is too big for cavies. Poopy is three months old, very calm even though new here, and I have many months to learn about and deal with potential health issues and spaying concerns. More: CAGEPoopyPoopyPoopy

She's pretty! Is she on the thin side?
Does she seem to feel comfortable with you?
What about changing it slightly to Poppy? She probably would not know the difference.

She's pretty! Is she on the thin side? Does she seem to feel comfortable with you? Does anyone?? Or is there some implication I am missing? ;D BTW, I am sitting here with Rainy in a bin next to me as I keep an eye on her. Same as usual; too bad there are no "training wheels" for hamsters. . . more later. . . I am not sure if she got enough LM Bonanza rabbit food. She did gorge at it when she was put in the cage. All my critters are comfortable with me; I give off good vibes; maybe it's my attempts at "singing"to them. Having been in a dark basement room for so long she did get a tiny bit nervous when I brought her up here and turned on the dinette light. Poppy it is!! Good idea. Now I have to try my hand at potty (or Poppy) training. . .

She's 3 monthes you said correct? She appears to be an american rabbit, from the pictures looks just like Finch just a different colour. She does appear to be a little thin, but she's young also, I got both of my bunbuns at 1 year and 1 1/2 years so I can't say for sure. Take her for a check up at the vets they'll give you a nah or a yay on that. If she is underweight I don't believe it's by much; pictures also don't do justice. If you want to change her name (we'll say you want to change it to Tawny) Call her Poopy-Tawny, slowly start to phase out Poopy. Cognac

No implications, DF - I was just wondering how she seemed to be settling in. She is very lovely

She seems a bit thin but nothing too worry about, i'm sure she'll put on weight this week with her proper diet of veggies, pellets and hay.
I have a Poppy so i endorse the name:)
she is beautiful DF, i'm really excited that you got her...and so close to my getting Astrid.

I really do not know what weight is approproiate, but now that you all mention it, I did seem to feel too much bone as I petted her.
She's getting veggies, and LM Bonanza rabbit food. Plus the hay, of course. All she wants. Anything else I should give her to bring up the weight?
BTW, she is negotiating the levels of the cage very well and hangs out on the bottom mostly, where it is dark.

Last night I had a dream that I was getting 2 female bunnies, and preparing a bunny run in my backyard - definitely a fantasy dream, since I've not had a yard in 23 years!
I hold you personally responsible for giving me bunny lust though.

I hold you personally responsible for giving me bunny lust though. Bunny dreams! Sheez! I'm flattered. ;D What exactly is a "bunny run"? Just an open space? Sounds like something from a track meet with chalk yard markers and the like. On your mark, get set, GO! She was let out of her cage to explore this congested domicile. I also learned that holding her requires quickly grabbing her underneath while simultaneously supporting her back legs. If I do that she doesn't get jumpy and start kicking. Have not given the hams and gerbs enough time the last two days, although I did clean Onyx' bin: it had gotten so ammonia-stinky she was sleeping in a plastic house on the other side. It's clean now. We await you recollections of tonight's dreams in tomorrow's postings. . . surely you must have imagined yourself as a female hamster meeting Puck?

Unless over weight, most bunbuns are pretty bony I know mine are but they are at an ideal weight. I guess greyhound bony is the closest description I can think of. The breed of rabbit also quite a bit to do with it also, some were bred to be more for food than as pets. Cognac

DF, it just a was a fenced in area in the yard, like the "doggy runs" in Riverside Park. I'm glad it sounds like she is settling in well. You'll have to post more pictures in the future, when you have the time

I wonder why we get an icon when a " is next to a d. (?), One of the doggie runs in Riverside Park cracked me up when I saw two pooches play-battling over a filthy old stick. They both had a grip on it, growling and tugging away. There were a dozen other sticks just like it on the ground. It struck me as funny. You know Riverside used to be a dumpy area filled with train yards and shanty towns as late as the 1930's? Hard to believe. My two mile long Shore Road Park was part of the bay until landfilled in (for the Belt Parkwy), finished in 1939. Poppy will have to "run" around the apartment, although someday I will let her loose in the hall to stretch. We shall be careful. Of course you will get more pictures; if I had a third arm I'd have taken one of me holding her against my chest. I wonder if it would look incongruous. . . (It feels nice to hold a bunny against a bare chest!).
