My cameras gave up the ghost and I bought a $2 Minolta at a thrift store...to test it out the last few weeks I've been taking tons of animal pics. Happily the camera works!! The ones of the rats didn't turn out well, I think I was too close. Here are some pics of Sasha and her hard life. (old pic)

I got six years and many thousands of photos, and lots of hard use, from a Fuji Finepix. It finally just stopped focusing. I will keept it in honor of good service. My new Nikon takes a few hundred more photos per card, they are much sharper, it has a lot more features, is much smaller, uses two batteries instead of four, and cost a fraction of the Fuji! That's technology for you! If you get real close to a subject you need a macro setting. No macro setting, get as close as you can and then crop and blow up, and hope the quality is not degraded too much. What a clean floor! I am home right now (instead of my usual place - the gym) as I have to conserve energy for needed housework, upcoming momentarily. I can HEAR Sasha's paws on that wooden floor! Is that her bed, or does she allow you in there too? Have her take a few of you in there next time. I will let Kate ID the breed/mix later. . .

What a clean floor! LOL! Looks CAN be deceiving Housekeeping isn't my forte. And since the floors are not in the best shape (need refinishing) I don't like to use water on them any more often than I need to. Oh, she's quite willing to share She's a real cuddle-bug ;D You've probably seen this before...it makes the rounds on the internet/email from time to time. Of course, any rules *I* have depend on what makes the pets happiest! lol The Dog Rules Dogs are never permitted in the house. The dog stays out side in the specially built wooden compartment named for a very good reason, the dog house. Ok, the dog can enter the house but only for short visits or if his own house is under renovation. Ok, the dog can stay in the house on a permanent basis provided his doghouse could be sold in a garage sale to a rookie dog owner. Inside the house, the dog is not allowed to run free and is confined to a comfortable, but secure cage. Ok, the cage becomes part of a "two for one" deal in the garage sale and the dog can go wherever the hell he pleases. The dog is never allowed on the furniture. Ok, the dog can get up on the old furniture, but not the new furniture. Ok, the dog can get up on the new furniture until it looks like the old furniture and then we'll sell the whole works, and buy new furniture on which the dog will most definitely not be allowed. The dog never sleeps on the bed. Period. Ok, the dog can sleep at the foot of the bed only. Ok, the dog can sleep along side you, but he is not allowed under the covers. Ok, the dog can sleep under the covers, but not with his head on your pillow. Ok, the dog can sleep along side you, under the covers with his head on your pillow, but if he snores, he's got to leave the room. Ok, the dog can sleep and snore and fart and have nightmares in your bed, but he's not to come in and sleep on the couch in the TV room, where you're now sleeping. That's just not fair. The dog never gets listed on the census questionnaires as "primary resident" even if it's true.

Cute. My deceased friend Mary (story posted on RR) used to sleep with her lab, Charlie. The problem was when I was in the vicinity of Charlie he passed gas a lot. (Bad diet?). I was so glad Charlie was fine (and is fine) after Mary was killed by an SUV.

Sasha is a cute dog. She looks older too, is she also a Husky/Sheperd mix? Those dog rules you posted, some sound stupid while others are okay.

What are the stupid ones?? I don't go for #1-6, and of course the dog CAN sleep on the bed. Obviously they are not rules *I'd* abide by

Sasha is a cute dog. She looks older too, is she also a Husky/Sheperd mix? The SPCA said she was a lab/shepherd mix, but I've always said shepherd/husky, too. Assuming she was part lab, I figured her life expectancy is 10 years-ish. So, given she's 7 now, I guess yes, she is "older". Hard to believe....and my cats are 13. They are all so spritely that it's hard to remember how old they are. linda

I can see the Lab part a bit in her. The only reason I asked if she was older was because she looked white on her face. The ones I think are stupid are: #'s 1, 2, 5, 11-13, 14 Some of these have to be made up as they just sound so stupid, like #'s 11-14. And five is dumb as I think a dog should never be left in a cage all day, they have to strectch their legs. But I guess many people are different, this had to be a joke somewhere.

That's understandable; it depends on the size of the bed. I'd just have no problem with it if I had room, especially as I would always keep the dog clean.
Hmmm. . . how Mary (mentioned above) squeezed in with her big lab Charlie I don't know; she likely did it for only short periods; her bed was not that big either.
My friend Susan slept with her iguana sometimes. Really.

Personally, I wouldn't want to sleep with my animal at all no matter how "clean" they may be. You don't know if they could have fleas or ticks, etc. I'm not taking that chance and also the dog should have it's own bed.

The pet should have its own bed, but if he/she wanted to climb in occasionally I would not shove the pet out.
