I have problems with unnecessary vanity surgery that hurts a lot.
I agree with LJ above.

I'd rather our dogs not have been docked but I had no say in it. They were docked when we got both of them.

If you get a dog from a breeder, most likely they'll have already docked the tail and cropped the ears by the time you get the pup. But I guess if you stress it to the breeder that you don't want this procedure done, they won't get it done.
I once saw a Rottie with a tail and he looked different, but also nice.

I heard that there are some breeders in the US that don't dock tails/ears, I even read a piece about a boxer-breeder who's very against it. She goes to shows with her dog and all, and even though she almost never wins, she does what she thinks is best for the dog!
I think that's something good, if more breeders in your country would do that those dogs will eventually start winning on shows and maybe soon everyone will think about the dogs best interest and not what (the owner thinks) looks 'great' on them and what makes the owner win the show...For the dog it doesn't matters if he wins or loses a dog show he's only happy to please his owner.

There are probably some breeders out there that don't do docking or cropping, but I think the majority does do it if they're going to be a show dog.
I agree with you 100% LJ that breeders shouldn't do this to their dogs just to make them look "more dignified".

Blah, stupid people and their stupid desire to make something look better than it is and then in the end hurt themselves.... Listen to the song "Perfect Lie" by The Engine Room (Nip/Tuck theme song apparently, I have no idea as I don't watch the show). It's short, and it's true. Cosmetic surgery sucks

She used to be nice-looking, but then went nuts with insecurities. See the link to her story and the "before" photo. That chin looks like it was glued on.

I'm also with LJ. These surgeries are unnecessary. I could never have a dog cropped or docked. Someone needs to post a before-and-after for Barbara Walters.

Has anyone seen Joan Rivers in the last year or so? I would NEVER have even recognized her she has had so much surgery. Wonder how many pounds of loose skin they cut off. Baba Wawa: her book goes into the details of her tacky affairs.

>>there was one person on Oprah who wanted to look like a barbie doll and got what she wanted. She looked weird.<< Was her name Tom Cruise? *eyeroll* Just kidding. But yeah, I honestly think surgery to that point is nuts.
