I really don't know if it is. I think it's okay though, because it does link this site up to a wider audience, but of course that's just my opinion. I can't speak for the forum, because it's not my forum - it's up to Kane. Looks good though. I'll send it to the AGS as well

I posted it on the AGS list. By the way, I knew what it was from the beginning (and that it wasn't gerbilsuk.co), but wasn't sure about our rules here. I think they got deleted a few months ago - a long story I'd rather not get into.

I totally agree. ;D It's not a football rally. It's a place for people who love animals to make posts and offer information and help.

Hehehe. Well, I sent a PM to Kane on that.
>> BUT most pallids available have cheeseman blood in them and that is likely with my pallid family sadly <<
? You lost me with that. ?
Oh, cheeseman are another type of gerbil, very similar, right? So is that good or bad for you with the pallids?
I think I posted a year or so ago some Bronx Zoo photos and I may have included some pallids. They seemed hyper where they were.

I think it was more like half a year. How time flies. I'd like to know if there is any rule for banner ads from rodent exterminators on this site. Seems highly incongruous.

both pallids and cheesemans are gerbillus (true gerbils) in the UK there was apparently some confusion about the two species and whether they were seperate species Becuase of this there was a lot of inbreeding and it is likely that many (if not all) pallids in the UK have some cheeseman in them this tends to come out as pups with cheeseman characteristics as I have never had pallids before or kept cheesman gerbils I don't have the eye to tell yes pallids do seem hyper compared to mongolians but I still reckon they are great pets

Never seen a Pallid for sale here, nor heard of breeders.
Why do they call them "cheeseman"? Named after someone?

I think I recall reading somewhere that they were named after the person who first domesticated/bred them. On the other hand, the species name is gerbillus cheesmani, so it could also just be a shortening of the name. It would be interesting to find out which it is.
I've never seen these other gerbil species here. I don't even know if all these types of gerbils would be considered legal here - we have some strange restrictions here. Of course, given how most people ask if my hamsters are gerbils/rats or my gerbils are hamsters/rats, it's unlikely anybody would be able to tell what they are anyway!

"Cheesemen". That is the name of a butter cookie, Pepperidge Farm, I think. ;D No, that's CHESSMEN! Hedgehogs are illegal in NYC. I was promised some degus from a guy who claimed he could get them from a NYC school project or something. He never came through on that, but did give me a regular gerbil, Penny, who is in with the siamese Pearl. Her tail was bare when I got her, but it filled out quickly.

Sorry I haven't been back in a while. Life takes over!! (and I took over a general furries forum when its adminstrator 'retired'). I won't post the link here as I assume the owner wouldn't appreciate it lol. Update..just over 50 mongolians now, 4 pallids (2 pairs, no pups yet) and my latest addition is a pair of Charming dipodils, absolutely gorgeous.

Have you ever had a mite infestation in all your tanks, and do all those tanks combined smell? Remedies? I am concerned about these issues having had mites (now cleared up) and living in an apartment.

No I haven't had to deal with mites (thank god). I have heard of a few people for whom its been a major issue and I fell deeply for them, especially the bird mite infestations that seem to have been a problem in the US.
Smell? No, If there's an unpleseant smell from a gerbil cage soemthing is wrong, usually a leaky bottle.
