This is a picture of my new boys that I got a few months ago. The argente Sam is by himself. We tried to put him together with Bud but it never worked out. Toby and Dexter are together. Sam Toby Bud - I threw this one in. He is just being adorable in this shot.

Unless you want something really crazy. I really try to get as close to real gerbil colors as I possibly can. I recently found a yarn that looks much like a Pied or Mottled Siamese. It came out so cool! The self colors are easy. It is the other ones that are a challenge. My Siamese gerbil was the most popular at the last gerbil show I attended.

They have in a split cage for almost 4 weeks. I tried an intro last week. They ended up in a gerbil ball. No blood drawn. Alot of back arching and shoving and tense nose to nose sniffing. Lucky I was wearing gloves. These two want to be dominate gerbil. Sam is over 12 weeks old now and Bud about 2 years old.
I know they want to be together but someone has to be the boss. Bud needs the company of another gerbil. Bud started purring in my hand when I take him out now. He really wants company. Even little Sam sometimes purrs when I take him out to hold.
I try using "hand" intros but they seem to don't want to really interact in my hand. There is plenty of butt sniffing though. They are both sleeping near the wire almost everyday now.
Any suggestions to help? By now, they have to smell alike. I want to try again this weekend. Would doing brief intros at night for a few minutes help? I have never had a split cage go this long.

the bell thingy is just a small bid wood toy that I put in their cage. They like to bat it around and make noise.

American Gerbil Society's Virtual Show is now open. This is what was posting on the AGS Yahoo Group: We are now accepting entries for the 2009 Virtual Show! AGS members may enter up to six gerbils in the Virtual Show, and non-members may enter up to two gerbils in the show. We will need two photos of each gerbil: one side view and one front view. Also note that all photos must be taken between July 8th and August 8th of this year so the judges can see current photos of your gerbils. The deadline to enter the Virtual Show is August 8th at 11:59pm, Eastern Time. Please carefully read all of the information on the show page before entering your gerbils in the Virtual Show: agsgerbils.org/Shows/virtual2009/We look forward to seeing all of the gorgeous gerbils who will compete in this year's show!
