I feed her Gerber oatmeal, apple and banana mix oatmeal. I put a small dab on a piece of cardboard. Heat in the microwave for 3 second. Trixie gobbles it right up every time. It has fiber in it.

Update: Trixie is still with us. Gained some weight. Still spunky and acting like a normal gerbil. Still purring also. Still continuing with the normal treatment. Baby Food 4 times a day and a noodle 3 times a day.

This is my little grey agouti Trixie. She is 3 1/2 years old. About the beginning of May there was a small lump on her belly. Vet said to watch it. While I was away at the gerbil show. The sore opened. Took her to the vet the day after I got back. Vet gave me medicine and brown liquid stuff to keep it clean twice a day. Trixie seemed to respond well to the treatment. After two weeks, I took her back in for a checkup. Vet was concerned that the sore wasn't healing properly. He took a small sample to send it to the lab for analysis. Trixie did lose some weight. Vet suggested supplement her diet. That was a week ago. Vet called yesterday evening. It is not good. Trixie has cancer. Surgery is too risky. Vet and I agreed to continue the same treatment. Supplement her diet with veggie baby food and cooked noodles and any extra sunflower and pumpin seeds she want. Trixie is still a very active little girl. Doing all the normal gerbil stuff. Trixie also purrs when I hold her. She only does it for me. I will treasure everyday that she has left.

She is a cutie. I was thinking of getting a pair of dwarfs for my next hamster after Fred.

The gerbil show was fantastic!. My little boy Spot won a blue ribbon in the Black Mottled Class. I created a showpage with all the news, photos and videos from the show. Go check it out. My sister took the many videos. hhgerbilry.com/agsgerbilshowne2009.htmlIf you never seen a blue gerbil before, I have one pictured on the page. They were the first to be seen and shown in America.

The hamster shows I have heard about are in California. It seems that is where the only hamster is located in the US right now. We need one on the east coast side. I got my two boy gerbils already registered for the show. I will be running the photo contest and the raffle/silent auction. If anyone has stuff to donate for the raffle/auction, let me know or email at: raffle09@hhgerbilry.comPhoto entries: agsphoto@hhgerbilry.com (gerbil pictures only) You don't have to be a member to enter your photo. Details here: www.agsgerbils.org/Shows/NEShow/There is going to be 2 pet classes. If your child wants to enter his/her pet gerbil, they can do so there. They need to register for the pet class at the site.

OK. That give me an idea of making very thick i-cords and braid them tightly together. Will that work?

Then what can I make? I can only knit. I don't sew. How about just plain knit pouches with the owner's supervision?
