The tank with the corncob get cleaned out every week. So no problem with mold. I have to do this because of Simone's nose problem. I even I have to limit on what she can chew also. very sensitive to the tp roll scent. Just straight cardboard or chube for her and Mona (burmese).

For those that are thinking of joining or rejoining. The process is super easy. It is all web based and the membership can be automatically renewed every year or two. Go here to Start: agsgerbils.org/About/MemberInfo.phpBe sure to join the AGS Yahoo Group also. This is where all the member hang out. Payment is easy. You can use Paypal or send them a check. That's it. This is important if want to enter your gerbils into the AGS sanctioned gerbil shows. If you not sure on joining then just sign onto the Yahoo Group site and check it out. I hope this helps.

Those cozies Fred loves. I never put anything fabric in the gerbils cages. Not good for them. They are used to the bell. They knock it around once in awhile. The gerbils love the hay cube. It i good for them.
I like the softness and carefresh ultra does not have too much dust. One tank I have to use corncob as one of my little girls Simone (spotted siamese) is very sensitive to dust.
I have plenty of cardboard to make the bottoms. They do make a mess but I don't mind. I use a straw mat for my hamsters topper and he loves it. Doesn't chew it at all.
Gerbils will chew the floormat to shreds.

That CT was is home only the first night we had him. We had to come up with something quick as he was not a "planned" adoption. As you can see from the pictures, he is in a 20 gallon long with a toppper. Lots of room for a hammie like Fred. He loves it.

Have you seen pictures of my Hammie Fred? He is a long haired Syrian hamster. I got him from a breeder locally but I really adopted him from the gerbil show in Nashua NH last May. Isn't he a cutie? ;D The last few picture are Fred playing in his new play pouch. I got in a craft swap. He loves it. It is now his favorite toy next to his ball when he comes out to play. He is such a sweet hamster. I had since he was 6 weeks old. Never bitten once. picasaweb.google.com/gerbilgal/FredTheHamster

The tubes don't last too long. My two boys Little Bear and Spot are my maniac chewers.
I love the Wodent Wheels. Very quiet and easy to clean. The front face chews chewed on the most but you can buy parts for them super cheap online. As long as you can afford the front pieces, the wodent wheels last forever. They are on a metal spoke. Just keep them oiled with baby oil.
I highly recommend them for floor wheel and hanging wheel as you can see from my gerbil albums.
