As Andromida said, there has been no gene for an Albino Gerbil. If you look further into gerbil genetics you'll find more information about it I know nothing about Hammies, so i can't comment on them. LOL Pinky, Ya Carlo is a cutie. He won't stay that colour though, he may end up being a light honey cream, or as I said a Chapange we won't know untill he molts. Whats neat about Monte is the outter ring around his red eyes are blue.

here they are Monte my stunning Red Eyed White, and Carlo my adorable Champagne. I am not a ruby/red eyed animal fan what so ever, but I could not say no to Monte. He is pure white, no tinting or shading just white on white. He has amazing red eyes also. And little Carlo (you can see what I mean by little, he's tiny!) Carlo may molt into more of a BEW, which i am hoping for

Well Jimmy is alone for now. I'm not sure if i will split cage him permenent with a female that I have as a loner, or just leave him alone. As for Chevy is is SO happy with his 2 little buddies Monte & Carlo. I'm so glad i made the choice to get him these guy's as buddies, as he looks alot happier and healthier now

Yes. See when i come into the room (open the door), most of the gerbils will wake up. He dosn't. If i talk into his cage the other gerbil split with him will be awake, but he will keep sleeping. I can sometimes remove the lid without him waking up, i usually have to tap on the tank, or even nudge him. He also spooks if he can't see you and ur behind him. When the two boys are running around, BOTH squeek alot, Chevy also thumps. Chevy is a pet Store gerbil, his brother died @ 2 years of age, and well chevy is skinny and looks 'funny'. Do you think it would be wrong to let him live alone? Most of my gerbils live to 3 or 4 years old, Though Chevy's brother died at 2. So i really don't know how old this guy is goign to live, and i want him to be happy, but I also don't want to keep adding to my numbers

Hey Everyone, I need some thoughts. It has now been two months Chevy & Jimmy have been split caged together. Though things started to look up, they sleep beside one another in the split (except Jimmy did not last night), Chevy tries to groom jimmy when they meet and through the dividers. Every night I let the two of them have the run of a couch or the livingroom floor and everytime Jimmy chases and sometimes fights his poor old Dad. They get into ball fights, but not once has they ever actually bitten or shed blood. Chevy is depressed, He has been in a Split cage since the end of January when his brother died. I'm starting to loose hope in this split intro. They went from the 50G split, to the 20G split and now are in a 10g split. They have nothing to do in them but sleep and dig at the glass Chevy is two and a half, and a super social gerbil. Seeing him sad and sleeping away his days is heart breaking for me. So, am i giving up to soon? Or am i on the right track that this will not work out. Should I continue for another month? Should i let him live in a 10G alone for the rest of his days? Should i let him live in a larger split the rest of his days? Or do i do what I said i would not do, and get two 5 week old male pups for him to live with? Here's the Chevy Man

I tame young gerbils buy wearing big sleeves that they can explore and play in. it works so well.
When i was younger and had my first two gerbils, I once put a gerbil down my B/F at the times shirt... she nipped his nipple! was SO funny! (well he didn't think so)

I've never fed crickets, my Honey won't let me bring live bung (specially noisey ones) into our house LOL All of my gerbils eat from my hands, even the Fosters, But while they are in quarantine they live upstairs with me and we spend alot of time hand taming, so that really helps. I love feeding gerbils hand treats, some I can have them take them from my mouth, not Chevy though, he always bites my lip! LOL
i's funny I've never seen a gerbil fill the sides of their mouths with food, though I have little piggies that will try and hold as many sun flower seeds as then can in their mouth LOL.. little goofy gerbils.

Welcome! again LOL.... Being a gerbil nut is perfectly fine, we all know how addicting it is.... I have 21 gerbils in my home right now, 16 of them are mine. I've kept gerbils since the late 90's. My oldest gerbil lived to be four, my cousin had a male who lived to be 6! My oldest right now is two and a half, his name is Chevy. What colours are you gerbils? Where do you show them? I've only ever done online photo shows b/c there are no live ones anywhere near me. My Pied Black girl named Audi came in second place in pied class in the AGS Virtual SHow last year

I want to eventually keep 2 tanks, of either 4 or 6 gerbils. I want to be able to give them all more one-on-one attention, plus I'm thinking of 'kids' down the road, and it would not be fare to bring in a new baby when I have so many pets. I love sitting in my gerbil room, watching and playing with all the critters it's so relaxing and enjoyable.

The more pets you have the higher your chances of problems and of course losses. Very very true. If It's not me loosing a little fuzzy, I will know someone with as many rodents as I do who have a loss in their clans. I always think, NO MORE...b/c the losses hurt so much, but I think of the years of happiness I get from them, and they get from me, so it really outweights the losses.
