Robin, I hope your critters will be OK.
Sorry about the hedgehog. As always, it would be nice if you took photos of the Paws critters and posted them before they die.

Two more have passed. Bill, who was a very friendly (and my favorite) duck has not been seen for ages. Usually our ducks won't be seen for a very long time and one day we see them. But Bill, we believe, has passed away. Rest in peace friendly one. And we had to put down a chicken a week ago. I held him as he went to chicken heaven. The vet believed it was a disease called Merricks (sp), but one of my friends doesn't think so cause the disease is highly contagious and half our flock would get it and die. We have a lot of chickens at Paws! Anyway, rest in peace little chicken. His back leg was non-functional. Oh yeah you mentioned photos, when I have the time I'm going to be putting up some pictures I took of the animals at Paws!

My favorite Chinchilla died today. He had fluid in his lungs and was old. Does anyone know how long a chinchilla lives? I looked it up and some say 15yrs, but Sidney was only around 7yrs. He was a good, little guy and loved his bananas and ice cream cones. He got his favorite foods today and I always told him he was my favorite. I will miss Sidney. Rest in peace sweet one.

A button quail, Simon, died some time last week. He was the cool one, always liked his grapes. He had one leg and lived a good life. Rest in peace little guy.

Jeez, I found three in a row today! First was a Painted Lady Butterfly (I believe they're called). She didn't have a name, but we were trying to breed them. So she was first, then I found Louie-a duck. He must've died from the heat, poor duck. I like those guys too. Then was Alvin, a Button Quail. They only live for two years, but he was cool. So rest in peace all of you.

So sorry for all of them. I do not understand why you never take photos to better commemorate them.

I do not understand why you never take photos to better commemorate them. ^Unless I'm mistaken, you seem to think I have time to take pictures when I go to work. I don't. I will now tell you of my days (Wed-Sat).
Wednesday is a half-a-day thank God. Not that PF (aka Paws Farm) isn't fun, but it gets very tedious and I don't want to work there my whole life. So on Wednesdays I work from 8-12pm. On that day I try to cram as much work as I can so Sara doesn't have to do it as she has a lot on her plate anyway. I think I get a lot done for her and then it's on home.
Thursdays-Saturdays: 8-9am (or sometimes 9:10am): Turn on lights for reptiles, fish, etc. Feed front building. That means change the birds tray papers (as poop and excess food are on them), change dirty water bowls for the reptiles, clean up after the mammals and put fresh bedding inside, feed the fish, mammals, birds, and reptiles their proper food. The Beardies take the longest to feed as you have to cut up small pieces of apple, carrot, lettuce, etc.
9-12pm: Turn on lights for reptiles, take out frozen rats/mice for trail birds. Then feed equine pasture with Chapman, the pig and the four alpacas. Give them hay, clean out Chapman's bowl. Give Tippy her meds (3x a day). Now to barnyard to feed goats, sheep, and the other foul (swan, ducks, chickens, etc). Give them hay. -Onto deer. Give them food, fresh veggies and fruits. Change their water. Then onto rabbits and chickens. Give them food and water and don't forget the Emu.
If I have time I do the trail before lunch. Lunch is at noon and is for an hour. It doesn't seem long maybe to you, but standing for the whole morning, your feet want rest. I give them rest at lunch.
1-2:30pm: Do trail if didn't do before lunch. Make up trail food for the wallaby, porcupine, red-footed tortoises (as they're in their summer home now) and skunks, but don't give the skunks fruit as they're on a diet. Then onto the farmhouse. As in the front building: change water bowls, take out dirty bedding and give fresh bedding, feed mammals and reptiles.
2:30-3:15 (or 3:30pm): Turn on red lights for reptiles, etc. Feed trail, then repeat for the pasture and barnyard (food, hay, clean out pig bowls). Oh yeah and Cisco's food has to be made up ahead of time because the poor horse doesn't molars because his stupid previous owners abused him.
If I have time between or get finished early, I look for more work. Clean the water tubs, clean the pasture and dump the yucky stuff in the dumpster, do the bunny cages, mulch the reptile cages, or whatever else there needs doing.
3:15 (or 3:30) to 4pm: REST!! I am tired and want to go home. My feet again are throbbing because I stood the whole afternoon. On days off, I don't want to go back where I work and take pictures.
I have only a certain few who are my favorites. Goats: Spike and Mousse; Sheep-Luca; Birds out in the barnyard: Swan-Sammy and Jamie the chick; Alpaca: Mansford and Barney; Horses: Tippy and Cisco; Donkeys: Belinda; Pigs: Chapman; Trail Animals: Wally, the Wallaby and Dusty, the Screech Owl. Farmhouse Animals: Harrington, the Bearded Dragon; Scooter, the Chinchilla; Daphne, the Western Painted Turtle; and Stormy, the California King Snake. Front building: Tom, the Box Turtle; Leo and Bandit, the Leopard Geckos; and Mango, the Senegal Parrot.
I can look up the others, plus I do have pictures of them. When I really really have time, I will take updates of them. But as far as time is concerned, I don't have time. So....does that answer your question? Phew.

Two more, jeez. Colombo, a Cuban Tree Frog, I found yesterday that died of old age. I was wondering why he hadn't used his water bowl in some time; he was a cool frog. And sadly, Duey-another duck-died yesterday as well. We thought she was having problems laying an egg, but the vet found out she had a tumor. I thought she was dying personally, when I found her and she'll be missed too. Now we only have one duck left; I told her "good-bye" and that she'll see Louie, Aflac, and Bill and will be herself again. So she's in duck heaven. Rest in peace, you two.
