My gerbil Clarice gave birth Monday morning to 4 little squeakers. As of this morning, they are all looking good and healthy.

Just thought of the movie "Audrey Rose". Figure it out.
Congrats on the babies. Photos?

I am going to try for some shots but it is a little difficult under the big nest.

I got some photos finally. I started when they were two days. I have been trying to take one everyday. They change so much. Here is a picture at two days old. I just took one this morning. I will post that one tonight.

Yep. I've seen them many times! All gerbs are sexed and separated here now.

Here they are at 4 days old. I just took the picture a few minutes ago. They will all have dark eyes for sure. As to color, don't know yet. Parents are ruby eyed.

With gerbs and hams it is always interesting and fun to watch as the pinkies start showing what colors they will become!

Congratulations Grandma Diane! They are so cute. I am so excited to see future pictures. Thank you for sharing their growth process with us. I personally have never seen that before.

No problem. The fourth pup didn't make it. Sam was cleaning the nest and brought out the dead pup for us. He put it in the middle of the tank for us to see. But as you can see from the pictures, the other three are doing great. It looked like it didn't make it past the second day. It was very small and underdeveloped.

God bless pinky pup number four. May you grow and become the best little gerbil at the rainbow bridge. No matter how young or tiny the babies, it always brings tears to my eyes.

Back in Jan. of 2003 a Syrian hamster (Rainy) had a surprise litter. See my signature for the Memorial Gallery which tells all their stories. I kept all the babies, and some very nice people I knew online helped sending things. But there was a runt who died young, and another one died at 2.5 months. So, it happens. Best with the others.

Here are the pups at 6 days old today. I can pick them up now and hold them in my hand. They will have black eyes. Their fuzz is starting to come in. Any suggestions on possible colors?
