I don't like RW at all but the movie is still amazing.
The bites I have had were from animals that had been mishandled and had serious dominance issues. I've also had a few that were purely my fault.
I'm teaching my 11 yr old brother how to handle my animals. (as opposed to living with them in the house) He's getting really good with the dogs, and this morning I taught him how to let Darko take a treat from his hand.
Meeks is getting a lot better as well. He's still very timid and will run and hide if I move too fast, but he lets me touch his back and will eat out of my hand. I'm glad to see him start trusting me.

>>And sorry if you felt uncomfortable writing that.<< ^_^ Not at all! I'm the scandalous one among my friends...
DF let us know how it goes. I wish I were closer to you and could take in some of them.

>>the fewer animals sold in pet stores the better. Find a reputable professional breeder.<< Ha ha, there is one pet store in town that is not your typical pet store. The man who owns it actually knows what he's doing and opened the business because he was tired of "pet stores". He's a little bit pricier than other places, but it's worth it. The girl who used to breed the hams for the store works there, and she gave her hams to another couple who had the space and time to do it. They are now the suppliers. I've been a customer there for years now, and their standards are high. They also screen the owners and take names and phone numbers and do monthly check ups on the animals. (Unless they see the people back in the store to get more supplies) I trust him and have never had a problem with their animals.
Okay, this may sound like a stupid question, but my policy is that the only stupid questions are ones not asked. So anyways, what is the difference between a Chinese and a Dwarf? And are Campbells a breed of dwarf? I've only ever had syrians, and never got into the technicalities of breeds and such. Only recently have I begun to learn the proper names of colours, so your talk is way over my head!

Yes, Robin Williams was in that movie. It was my English teacher's favourite movie as well, and we watched it in class after doing the modernism poetry unit. At the end of the year, we stood on our desks and said "O Captain, my Captain". He was almost in tears. (watch the movie and you will get the significance of that)
I've been bitten a few times by animals. Goes with the territory, I guess...

Dwarf hamsters anywhere! I talked to the owner of the good pet store in my town, and he said that he hasn't been able to get any in for the past year. I put my name down and they will give me a call if some come in, but we'll see. This being said, are they really that much different to keep than a syrian? Other than that you can have more than one in a cage. Any info would be much appreciated! (and yes, I have gone back to read the other topics)

>>Get him a name!<< I FINALLY CAME UP WITH A NAME! His name is "Meeks". It still fits in with my "characters from favourite movies" theme that I have for my hams, as one of my favourite movies is Dead Poets Society. It's also fitting because he's really shy and timid.
>>The bloody results were posted years ago!<< I saw those... that was pretty bad.

>>Sorry Robin, still no go<< DF said he was getting the "hang" of the sexing and he had already sexed a male... when a male is well endowed they say he is "well hung"... the joke was more along the lines of sexual innuendo, and don't worry because it wasn't that funny.
My family has always had weird cat names: Crash, Strut, Kinky (because her tail had been slammed in a door and made a Z pattern) Bowtie, Nitro...
If you can't think of names you could always name them numbers.

I couldn't vote, because for me it's a tie. I love to play with the hams and the pups, but horseback riding is my favourite activity ever. I do hate taking the pups for a walk, and I'd rather play with Darko outside of his ball... Therefore I cannot vote. Picture taking is a 3rd for me... breeding would be at the bottom of the list. (rescues > breeding) Talking about them on the internet is what I do when they don't want to play, buying them isn't that big of a deal for me. It's not about the buying of the animal, it's about the animal itself...

Updates:
Well, the nameless one is used to my hand being in the cage now. Yesterday I cleaned both boy's cages, and he sat on my hand and ate a piece of cauliflower stalk! He's still really timid and won't let me pick him up, but he is getting comfortable with my smell. I haven't had much time for playing with him with the dog training, but I was really happy. I gotta decide on a name for him one of these days... <3 He's getting big! I'll update pictures when I have time.

>>They wrap a belt around the animal's private areas and ride them that way<<
They do that to Studs for bronc riding in rodoes as well. There are many shady underhanded things in the animal world.

>>You won't need to clean the tubes after each time.<< But won't the boys smell each other? I thought that was a bad thing for syrians...

>>You can put them in a play area using a tube and leave them alone.<< Hmm... I guess you would have to have a secure play area. I was thinking of using the combined Habitrail and Crittertrail cages together as a play cage, but I don't really know how that would work. Unless I completely cleaned it every time I let one in it...
