I give you the Coton Club: www.usactc.org/ Or this one: cotonclub.org/Or maybe even this one: www.americancotonclub.com/^That one is new to me, I'll check it out now. I've seen the other two, they're okay. I like the AKC, but can understand why they don't want the Coton to be in the AKC.

Why don't they?
When I was at the last AKC the Bichon guy described significant differences (to him) between Bichons and Cotons.
Gotta get Meet the Breeds tickets asap!!!
Will check those links and comment a little later.
"The Cotton Club" was also a movie. The song, "Putting on the Ritz" was originally about that place: "where Harlem sits, putting on the Ritz!".

The song, "Putting on the Ritz" was originally about that place: "where Harlem sits, putting on the Ritz!". ^Oh okay. I'm sure I've heard that before as my parents sing to that song and have it taped.
Why don't they? ^Not many people who have rare breeds want them to become popular because then inbreeding will occur, puppies will end up in shelters, abused animals could happen, the line will not remain pure--as in the breeder will now breed for this or that. I know there's more to it than that, but that's all I can remember for right now. I'll try to find some more or ask.

Real quickly, speaking of the Coton, they were on Dogs 101 on Animal Planet last night. It was stupid; they didn't do the breed justice at all. I feel like writing to Animal Planet saying it was highly disappointing. Plus the fact why would they talk about a breed that wasn't AKC registered and the rest were? *shakes head* This week is the Himalayan Sheepdog from Nepal and they're said to be intelligent, stubborn, and powerful. This is their description here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalayan_SheepdogAnd here are pictures of them: www.dogbreedinfo.com/h/himalayansheepdog.htm^Don't they look a bit like Whizz?

You should have contacted Animal Planet, by e-mail and phone. What they said I cannot comment on as you did not say, other than the stupidity of implying if a breed is not AKC registered it does not count! - - - - - - >>This dog-related article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it.<< Why don't you expand it?? He does remind me of Whizz? Tell Andrea in a PM to take a look. I am surprised they are not furrier in the Himalayan snow. >>They are similar in appearance to the Newfoundland (dog) and the Tibetan Mastiff. << Not by THAT photo. Are you sure that is the right photo??

You should have contacted Animal Planet, by e-mail ^I can't find where I would contact the show. I even went to where it said Dogs 101 and still can't find anything to contact them by. Maybe I'll look later when I start to feel better. I'll make a long story short: asthma attack, can't breath, sniffling, coughing hard, doctor's yesterday, and today two medications for 5 days and the other for 7-10 days. Why don't you expand it?? ^How about for the simple reason I don't know that much about them? The first time I heard it was when I was browsing through rare dog pages and found them. So what they know, I know. Tell Andrea in a PM to take a look. ^Just did today. Are you sure that is the right photo?? ^When I type in Himalayan Sheepdog, I get that photo and others. Perhaps wiki was wrong, I found this also: www.associatedcontent.com/article/525525/uncommon_dog_breeds_the_himalayan_sheepdog.html

The doggies that you post about are always so interesting. I like being a newbe on this because I have more past doggie pics to look at from the past.

I will get to this tomorrow. Tired. Happens a lot these days after the campaigning wars I have been on.
I also need to get my Meet the Breeds photos up.

Yea, for sure. Nice looking dog. Part terrier; looks like a bit of beagle in there.

Nice dog. >>The Pyrenean Mastiff should be trained with reward-based, positive lessons from as early an age as possible.<<
I have seen instructions such as that a lot more lately, including all over the AKC book of breeds i bought at Meet the Breeds. Positive lessons were routinely emphasized in the book. This seems possible a reaction against more negative domineering styles of training.
