I will get to this tomorrow. Tired. Happens a lot these days after the campaigning wars I have been on.
I also need to get my Meet the Breeds photos up.

Teeth. Wish mine grew back! I have no idea why his broke off. Maybe it just happens sometimes. *shrugs* Lay off the peanut brittle.
Hope all will be well.

Right now! Nuts are falling! Acorns abound!
Where there are trees that do not produce edible nuts, or oaks, I will still leave out some hazelnuts. They are better than peanuts as they can be stored safely in the ground.

I had a GREAT time last year. Seven hours flew by. It is back this weekend. I will be there. www.akc.org/meet_the_breeds/>>Meet the Breeds, hosted by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) will return to the Jacob Javits Center in New York City on October 16th and 17th, 2010. Last year’s 36,000 attendees enjoyed 200 individually decorated official breed booths that allowed dog and cat lovers to interact with dogs, cats, puppies and kittens and learn about their history and unique attributes directly from the experts; 100 vendor booths offered every imaginable product for pets and their owners; and five ongoing demonstration rings featured law enforcement K9s, grooming, agility, obedience and an interactive ‘Cat Idol’ showcase and more. The event was also a big hit with the press, generating more than 475 million media impressions. Come join us as we introduce them to the wonderful world of dogs and cats, in the media capital of the world.<<

So missed. Leslie was the worst death I ever had, his mom died too young, and Sam passed in the heat wave in July--see Memorial thread.

Go to page 9 of the Gerbil forum and look for my thread about the "Gang of Four". Then go to page 7 and look for my thread "Tragic End to the Gang of Four". That says alot about declanning. Chrissie was their sister. She was in with Crystal, Their photos can be found in the 2004 pages of the Gerbil forum, and the Memorial forum way down the scroll. One day, after over a year of nice behavior, when in my hand she clamped down HARD on my palm! Severla hours later with cleaned hands I tried it again. . . it was like a pliers grabbed me! Ouch. Got a bruise. Why she suddenly "declanned" from me I do not know. Anyone?

Well, they've had at least two days of great weather to get acquainted with their new digs. I planned this well.

Yes we do. The trick is to pour a little and get the tail free first and then GET YOUR THUMBNAIL hard into the tail--that way they can not squeeze out when oily. and as it is a lot of work carrying the heavy tank in two laundry bags to and on the subway and marching deep into the big park. It is sad as they are uncontrollable and insanely wild! They cannot be sexed nor even have their tanks cleaned without them getting loose. Imagine the concerns with them there. So they have to go, and I wish them well. Released in an overgrown isolated section near a nice water source easy to reach. Tossed some food around. There were a lot of them. It is actually easier to get them in an OCCUPIED tank (without any others escaping) using the pads instead of a Have-a-Hart trap, a trap the small one still might be able to squeeze out of. And I am tired. Prospect Park in Brooklyn is well known and easy to find on the Web, if interested.

BTW, no hamster I ever had who got out ever was not found.
Keep in mind, they want to FORAGE, not escape. If they get out they may, hours later, return after the search for food. I have seen it happen. Once one was trying to get back in a Habitrail already occupied by her sister who I moved in that morning. The story is quite old and might be on the first page or two of the Hamster forum from early 2004; maybe not.
