Very nice evening yesterday. Music, events, food, great weather, nice people. And I know most of the politicians and their aids. Had some long talks with them. John Catsimatidis is toward the end - billionaire mayor candidate in NYC. >>http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/wendy_tovar1/library/NATIONAL%20NIGHT%20OUT?sort=2&page=0#/user/wendy_tovar1/library/NATIONAL%20NIGHT%20OUT?sort=6&page=1&_suid=137584910178103521039906390602<< Catsimatidiidis' wife, and in the center State Senator Marty Golden.

Lots of fun - and tons of free food most of which I took home!- at the opening of John Castimatidis' Brooklyn headquarters a few nights ago. He is a billionaire who came to NYC as an immigrant with nothing! Nice guy. Many local politicians were there. I know them all personally. A lot of fun. GRAND OPENINGwww.cats2013.com/

Hot day. Whew. Took photos of the Major League Baseball All Star Game parade today in Manhattan. See the Photo forum! There will not be another in NYC for likely thirty years, so I went despite the heat.

Finally here we are. As posted elsewhere, I have names a lot of critters especially the rats (with photos).
Gerbils: females. Aranka (tan); Briar (grey). I need to re-acquaint myself with official gerbil colors, I know! ;D
Now for the Syrian. . . in that forum. . .
I posted photos of all many weeks ago.

In the northeast it can sneak up on us, but mid-90's are here, the worst heat wave in this area since the horrid 2010 Summer. If you see animals in hot cars, break the windows! Rabbits and guinea pigs are very heat sensitive. If the temps hit 85 degrees or more get them into an air conditioned room! I am moving my rabbits within a half hour. It will be a lot of work, but so be it. Do not let them get heat exhaustion which is often fatal. www.fundforanimals.org/rabbit/stories/excessive_heat.html

www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2013/07/staten_island_zoo_adopts_2_red.html#incart_river>>STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The red foxes, between two and three weeks old, were recently discovered wandering and vulnerable in the West Yellowstone area of Montana, their mother found dead in a trap. Their future, however is more secure: They have been adopted by the Staten Island Zoo, where they are currently on display in its nursery. They arrived earlier this month and join an adult red fox already in residence at the West Brighton zoo. The young foxes, called "kits," have been named Montana, after the state in which they were born, and Helena, after the its capital. They typically reach their full adult size in about a year. So far, the animals appear to be "active, inquisitive and frisky ... and puppylike," a zoo staffer shared with us. Red foxes are social animals, but the species has long been hunted as a pest, and for its fur. In the wild, they eat small mammals such as mice, squirrels, woodchucks and rabbits, as well as ground-nesting birds and their eggs. <<

The six tame guys, raised from babies. Again, a link here: SIX GUYSJordan on left (lighter head and no spots); Ben (lighter head three faint spots); Timon (darker head and one spot); Hector (darker head and no spots). And this is Waldo with the darker head and solid line. That leaves only Lucas. . . light head one spot, different from Ben as you can see?

Yes, finally. This is one album of three; they are in three cages. THREE GUYSThese are the ones not raised from babies, so they are less tame. The white one is the daddy to all the others in the two other albums. That was a non-deliberate breeding (two of us missed an gender ID) but it turned out well as the babies became tame adults! All white: Owen. Spotted back: Casey. Solid line on back: Byron.
