When i think "Pure Bred" I think registered.... I dunno why but I do. Maybe b/c we have so many backyard breeders out here to claim to have 'pure breds' but no family history on them. Have a great time Tom, take some pic's if you can... specially if you see a Canaan dog! It's a breed we are researching a bit here

Last night when I got home Issabella was awake and running around, when i put my hand in the cage she right away jumped on. I let her have some time running and exploring an area of the living room (fenced in). She's such a nice hamster! When it was time for her to go back to her cage, again she hopped right on my hand when I presented it to her. As i was carrying her downstairs i though how someone had given her up, no longer wanted her anymore and just how much they are missing out on that I get to enjoy now

There's a cool video of a Momma bunny whooping a snakes butt too LOL My grandparents lived in the bush in Northern BC, their neighbour fed the squirrels all the time, taught them to take peanuts from our arms and even the top of our head. It was cute and fun... but like with feeding any wild animals comes trouble. The squirrels became quite brave, and seemed to not appreciate when the neighbour wasn't there to feed them their peanuts. So these squirrels started breaking into his house, eating through screen doors and windows getting into his home and wrecking everything! He ended up live trapping the one trouble maker and driving him a ways away. A week later a squirrel was in there house.... he caught it again, this time putting spray paint on it's tail (to identify him) and driving it even further away. Some time passes and a squirrel with a painted tail is caught trying to break into his home again. He catches the little guy in a live trap again and this time drives him like an hour away. We wonder if there is a squirrel with a painted tail breaking into any other peoples cabins?

I was going to fill the survey But I've not had a de-clanning in a long time, as all my gerbils but one are still around. I had a LOT of issues with de-clanning, and when i cleaned the tanks I left bedding/nests in, I cleaned my hands between tanks and such but whether male or female, old or young I had issues. I have found that some olders de-clan when one is ill. I've had a couple declan before one get's sick and dies. I wonder if the declanning was also because I had a room filled with gerbils, though not in contact with each other, still sharing the same room/air etc.
I have had a dwarf hammy 'de-clan' it never got vicious as I removed the disgruntled male. There were 5 all together, then the 4 all lived happy for many years into old age.

When i was 5 my childhood friend told me heaven had anything you ever wanted..... I pictured a long table with white linens covered in fruit roll-ups.
I wasn't allowed Fruit Roll-Ups as a kid... lol Whatever the afterlife is, I'm sure it's much better then what we have here. (So yes I do believe animals go to heaven)

Well some people still don't spay and neuter their animals, or vaccinate them, and if they get sick they don't take them to the vet, some will even shoot their own animals to 'put them out of their misary'. Some dogs still live outside only, and young farm animals like cattle and goats are still castrated with elastic bands. Now while I do belive soem animals are 'workers' while other pets, i do feel we need to at least try adn keep them healthy and safe, and #1 stop over producing animals that have no where to go. Popular here is breeding and eating rabbits as well. A little story, when I moved here I was reading the local paper and the lead story was about a woman complaining her dog was in hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times. It ended up her wolf cross dog would just leave her property and wander to the other farms, while there killing famers calves. Famers loosing calves loose money, they put up signs "who's dog it this" and never got a responce, so one day after a few more cows dead, a few local farmers got in a pickup truck and hunted down that dog, when they found him on the side of the road wandering they open fire on him.... but didn't kill him. That poor dog was in the ditch dying before someone found him. I was in total shock, i asked Ryan "Where the hell have we moved to!?!?" But I see both sides fo the story, these farmers are loosing money, if it was a bear or a cougar killing the cows they would shoot them too. But picturing famers in the back of their pick-up with rifles driving down the road really scared me. I blame the Lady who owned the wolf cross dog for not training him, and making sure he was SAFE on her property. I do think the famers should have called animal control, and not had tried to deal with this on their own (though they did try to find the owner before, with no respocne they thought it a stray). I found a young Huskey running loose in my own neighbourhood late at night, no one had ever seen that dog, and all the neighbours who walk their dogs sort of know one another. I found her owner who tells us she just lets the dog run in the back field at night.... she's had the dog a year and has never been seen walking her once... a huskey!

She is tiny! Smallest I've had. I had one of those Critter Trail wheels in her cage, it has a small slit down the middle and her entire leg would fall through it, so i had to give her a metal mesh one. The lady who transported her to me thought she was a mouse. Others have commented on her being a mouse LOL Her face is very pointy.

I don't regret moving out here because of the great scenery and all the animals. I used to have to drive quite far to ride horses sometimes where I was, here they are everywhere LOL. Same with ATVing, it's not a 15 min drive up the mountain, instead of 45 to an hour.
One thing though, out here peoples thoughts on animals are much different and 'old school' then it is closer to the city. That can be stressful for me, but i try to relate and elarn, and educate where I can without making enemies.

Wow, what a scare! Glad he's ok and everything worked out.
I had a Degu get stuck trying to squeeze through a NIC cube, and when he couldn't get out he started freaking and screaming, after a little spazzing he was free. Hopefully lesson learned.
OH, you know your story kinda reminds me of an embarassing one I had with my hamster Miaka.... I had my cousins over for a girls night, we were drinking wine and chatting while Miaka had a free run area in the living room with hamster fence around it. In our drunkiness we decided to try on some pants I had in my room, we were there a while and when we came back to the living room I remember "Oh hamster!" ... couldn't find her anywhere. 3 Drunk girls flipping out and sobering up quickly trying to find this lost hammy (who btw was a HUGE hamster)... we hear this scratching INSIDE my leather couch. Still not to sure how she got in there. I hurt my arm trying to get her out between the frame, and Ry ended up coming to our rescue by flipping the couch, cutting open the bottom and getting my hamster out LOL Another lesson learned.
