Since 2 days there's a new addition to my Hammie-family; His name is Charlie, named after Charlie Chaplin(you'll may remember I like to call my hamsters after famous people and I love black/white & silent movies) He's a black banded Syrian boy(maybe longhaired)..Here's the "strange" part; he's estimated to be only 19 days old right now! his mommy was a baby herself when she got him, and died 4 days ago(age +/-10 weeks). She was still in the pet store at the moment, and a girl noticed her. The same girl told the pet store-owner there was a dead hamster in one of the cages with a baby screaming next to her; the reaction of the owner?: oh, then we just have to kill the baby too So the girl saved little Charlie but couldn't take care of him, so I volunteered He's really a sweetheart, and a bit cheeky ;D He still needs "milk" so I give him a mixture of; low fat Quark, cream(30% fat), egg yolk, low fat milk and vitamins. He loves Vegetables(broccoli!) and already eats a bit of normal hamster food Despite his love of food he is really tiny; only 20 gr but he's growing; he was only 17 gr when he arrived this is him;

I kinda like the girl-cage more, because there is much more stuff in it (2nd en 3th picture). The boy-cage has less stuff because they usually sleep The cube(that blue/black thing) is their favourite hammock because they can sleep in or on top of it. I made it myself, was really hard! Uhm...I usually throw away 1 Hammock per cage-cleaning(every week) because they totally wrecked it The other stuff is permanent..never have to throw anything away(things I don't use I put away for next time) My rats are living on fabric now, I take out the fleece/towel every other day and replace it with a new one. I have 3 litterpans in the male-cage and 2 in the female-cage, and those I clean 2x per week. My girls are all litterpan-trained, my boys are sometimes a bit lazy zo I clean their shelfs every day with hot water.

I'm still very much in love with the cage(I've had them for over 4 months now) they're easy to clean,you can even build up only half of the cage so it's about 70 cm high and not 120 cm.. the cage is called "Bunny R102H" >>you can't GET that stuff on this island<< you can make a great Rat-home with just ordinary house-stuff like that pink "thing" in my cage, on the left, its actually a piece of: A bathroom-trolley and the Grey house-thing on top of that is a pigeon's water"bowl" The yellow hanging thing is: it's from the Ikea, *mini-Fängst*, and I bought it for €0,50; it's very cheap I always make my own Hammocks, If I bought them at the pet store it'll cost me about €80 a months :S For tubes you can also use plastic rain pipes or even cardboard tubes like these; I just started making my own rope-ladders, I already made climbing-ropes with fleece. It's a lot cheaper and much more fun to make your own stuff and only buy the basic stuff at a pet store(Oh, and most of my stuff I have at the moment isn't even available in the Netherlands, so I have to ship it from Gr. Br. )

Edelweiss is a sweetheart, and a very funny rat too Russian dove is the same color as Honey Bee, Byô is her mother. The mink Bareback girl(Zarya) had a "date" with my Ace(Mink Hooded HS) but she didn't get pregnant. Sealpoint Himalayan isn't that rare... Most Siamese&Himalayans are Sealpoint; Passie,ava&Tex are all Sealpoints.

she's a Japan-freak, almost al her old girls have japanese names. She has(or had); Shiroii, Aiko, Chihiro, Reika, Hana, Sakura, Maiko, Byôgakudai(daughter of namari, mother of Honey bee)...and probably more that I can't remember... Her Rattery name is also japanese; Ai(English version of her website = www.everyoneweb.com/airatteryenglish/ ...it's not up-to-date) Namari is Japanese, no doubt about that

most funniest name to me is Oh My! Apple Pie! It's the name of one of Ben&jerry's Flavours I like Imaginary Superstar and Shades of Avalon's names the most..but actually I love them all because the name-picking always depends on the animal, it has to fit them. And because it can take for ages before I find the name...the name of Sharada took me about 5 weeks, It's(like her mom's name) a song by Skye Sweetnam @ DF: Ava&Passie are BES; Black Eyed Siamese The most beautiful pictures to me are the ones of Ava, she's so picture-perfect..with her I can take 100 pictures and they are all beautiful, while the other girls are on almost all pictures in some kind of weird "pose" so I can delete almost 90% of the pictures...

my first "rat-experience" was with a big albino-male at a friend's home when I was about...6 of 7 y.o. I was very facinated by that animals, my mom was horrified But I refused to touch it, because my mom was afraid of "it" so it MUST be scary Few years later I stopped believing everthing my mom says is the truth, At a petshop I touched and cuddled a few kittens and my heart was sold....but my mom&dad wouldn't let me have 2 I kept searching information about rats, talking about them, going to the petstore to see the kittens there(I drove my best friend crazy at that time..she allways had to come with me ) when my parents divorced I finally got my rats! They really are one of the loves of my live... They are close to perfection I don't really like shocking people, but when people make stupid comments about rats I can't help myself (A) Last week I was at a big rodent show, Busy cuddling the newest member of my friend's rat-family...A lady walked up to me and askes: Ooh, what's that? A Guinea pig? What a beauty! So I replied; no It's an, almost, adult male rat...she gave me THE evil look and made a verrry disturbing comment to her husband... As if it was my fault she's stupid, and doesn't know what a guinea pig OR a rat looks like The rat was still as beautiful and sweet as before she knew it was a Rat, so I don't really get why people react like that.

i don't really have themes... only mother/child combination have names that have something to do with each other..
Namari - Dai kin; Both japanese imaginary superstar - (beautiful) sharada; both skye sweetnam songs
And there are not mother/child combi but their names are "themed" (celtic) Dagda & Juno Regina; both are gods Dagda = celtic/irish god, a bit like the roman Jupiter...juno = jupiter's wive...
